I feel like I should have done something more for my 200th comic and four year anniversary than upload a week late comic but that's just the kind of year 2017 has been for me.

At lest I found my stylist. So that's something. (thanks for all the well wishes btw)

So happy 4 years of Imperial Entanglements and 200 comics! Here's hoping for 4 more years and 200 more comics. :D

"Balmorran Patriots"

12th Jun 2017, 7:50 AM

Vader999

Balmorran patriots who have nothing to do with the Republic happen to wear republic Stormtrooper armor and have Jedi escort? And they expected this to be a valid excuse? It's like they assume the Empire's run by imbeci-oh, wait, it totally is.

Also totally not affiliated with the Republic

Typical nonsense we would expect from an inferior Leku-less person. Stop trying to appropriate our noble leku-centric culture, you loony green pyromaniac!

God, Vette, stop discriminating against that Balmorran patriot twi'lek who isn't affiliated with the Republic at all.

"We're not affiliated with the Republic" is almost as bad a lie as "We're on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan".

@Vader999 - Well, Mendy is there, and has heard the lies in question, so I guess we will definitely get to find out if that statement is literally correct.

Huh, never thought I'd see the moment when Vette would be begging to just hurry up and kill them already, while Mendy would rather talk. Not talk to the enemy, but still!

And maybe Vette can get Mandy the 'Big Book of Galactic Races' to help expand his knowledge base?

This comic and my sister share a birthday. I will raise a slice of leftover cake in it's honour.

Also, I love that last panel. The art and layout work really well.

I'm a Sith...DUH! ...And not affiliated with the Republic

You know, I think Vette's about thisclose to strangling Mendy with her lekku. Or using the Togruta Jedi's to do it after he's dead.

That would hurt Vette a LOT more than it would hurt Mendy, at least attempting it with her own. See, twi'lek lekku are made of mostly nerve and brain tissue. So, damage to them can cause both extreme pain as well as memory problems.

They also make a Twi'lek a little more resistant to permanent brainwashing, since the memories in the lekku helped Aayla Secura restore herself after having her brain's memories wiped by either Count Dooku or one of his minions.

That's why, despite a slightly increased chance of brainwashing, we humans (and many other species) wisely keep our squishy brain parts safely inside a nice hard bony skull, unlike some.

Ooops, was that politically incorrect?

Given that the majority of atrocities in the Star Wars Galaxy (and all in our world, but that's a given) are caused by humans, I'd rather have the weakness of having an "unprotected" area of brain tissue than be human. Because then I'd be able to say "At least I'm not human."

Yes, I am misanthropic. Thanks for asking! :)

but you could still be one of the many other species that has a safe, well-designed, skull-protected brain and also say you are not human, so the two do not have to be exclusive of each other.

(not that any being is responsible for the actions of others just because they are the same species anyway)

True, but just because a being isn't responsible for their species actions doesn't mean they don't have to deal with the fallout. I don't remember where I first saw it, but there's a quote where a Jedi tells their Padawan that it takes ten good impressions of a Jedi to counteract a single bad impression. In effect, every Jedi after is dealing with the actions of one bad egg who made the rest of them look bad.

Which is the root of my misanthropy; too many bad impressions from every walk of life and not enough people countering that for me.

Ah, but the root essence of "prejudice" or "bigotry" or whatever word one might apply to it, is to judge anyone by the impression you have of the group they are a member of rather than solely as an individual. I can't declare it to be the responsibility of members of a group to overcome the bad impression previously left upon me by other members of their same group, it is *my* responsibility to not let that previous impression cloud my judgement of the person I just met. Sure, the Jedi is just acknowledging that as a practical matter they have to work to overcome the prejudice and bigotry of others, but that doesn't make that prejudice acceptable. The Jedi has to deal with the fallout, but the fault lies in the person who is prejudiced against them. I accept that the prejudice exists, but I don't accept that it's OK that it exists.

(Disclaimer: It's kind of hypocritical for me to say all that, as I'm sure I'm really just as misanthropic as you are, and for the exact same reasons. I just recognize that that I'm being unfair in doing so. But that doesn't stop me. Because I'm one of those jerkass humans also, and we're like that.)

I never said that prejudice and bigotry were acceptable either. In fact, to me, my misanthropy grants a big of equality; it doesn't what your skin pigmentation, gender identity, sexual preference, religious beliefs or economic situation are. You're human, and that's more than enough to hate you on principle.

Besides, we're all a little hypocritical in our ways. For example, even though I hate humanity on principle, I still give individuals a chance, because I don't want to walk through life alone. But, given enough time, humanity continues to disappoint me. But that's another rant entirely.

Donthurtmeplz

Well you're a pretentious jerk.
Seriously though, humanity doesn't care about 'disappointing' you. The human race does not care about your standards for their behavior. People do what they're raised to believe is correct; people aren't inherently bad, and assuming they are because they're human is just as bad as assuming they are because they're white/black/male/female.

And I don't deny that I'm a pretentious jerk. And I'm also extremely aware that the world doesn't care about what I am or what I believe or any of that.

Which is why I always give people a chance as individuals. They're not responsible for for my bad experiences, and deserve a chance to be the person they are without my negative perceptions of the human race to affect negatively affect them.

That's my personal hypocrisy, btw. I'm a misanthrope who wants to see the best in people, and give everyone a chance to be the best they can be.

Hitokiri Akins

It was rude, but I'm not upset or offended by your words. And I think I know where it came from; you assumed I'm angry at humanity and think I deserve some recompense from our species. I'm not, and left that phase behind a LONG time ago. At this stage, I'm more like the parent who is disappointed in what their kids do when they know fully well something is wrong but does it anyway. More of the "Don't be sorry, just be better" kind of disappointment. I'm more likely to shake my head in disappointment when I hear what humans are doing to other humans on the news rather than get pissed off about it.

So, like I said, don't be sorry. Just be better. I'll do the same. :)
