First of there are no Force Awakens Spoilers in this news post. Please try and keep your comments on this comic free of any spoilers for at lest this week. Next week however you guys can go nuts.

With that out of the way, I hope you enjoy this holiday filler, while I spend some time with my family over the holidays. Part 2 will be next week.

Sooooooo The Force Awakens happened. I went to a special showing where they let us hang out in the theater for a few hours before the movie started while they raffled off Star Wars swag and other free goodies. I ended up winning a years worth of free movies. So that's pretty cool. My boyfriend and I also made it on to the local news.

As for the movie it's self. I liked it a lot and I plan to go see it again. It was pretty much everything I wanted it to be and SO much better than the prequels. If you haven't seen it already you really need to.

Is it a good movie? Yes, very much so. Certainly better than the prequels. Certainly worth watching. Good acting, good technology, fun moments, enjoyable battles. Is it a great Star Wars movie, like the original trilogy? No. The script is somewhat weak - deja vu all over again... IMHO, it was definitely not worth destroying the whole Expanded Universe to make this movie. They could have done so much better by just developing the script around Timothy Zahn's original book trilogy...

Yuuzhan Vong. Killiks. Cade Skywalker. Those three reasons along are enough to be rid of the old post movie EU.

Besides, Disney is treating the old EU like George Lucas did; completely ignoring it and doing their own thing. It's as sacred now to the ones making the new movies as it was during the Prequels.

Better to break it up

The EU had gotten so fragmented, both from the early lack of quality control and the later 'have to make it more epic' drive, that there wasn't any room to tell a new story in amongst the conflicting storylines of the EU books. By declaring the EU to be 'legends', it lets the ongoing movie canon pick and choose what they want to include, as TFA took the concept of [REDACTED] for inclusion. We can still hope to see some of the better parts of the EU brought back into canon in future movies if they can be pruned out of the chaff that makes up the lamer parts of the EU.

Yeah, that's my thought too. I'm going to miss Mara if she doesn't show up in the future movies, but her loss is worth the loss of the Vong, Killiks and the Jedi Academy trilogy.

On top of that, I doubt that Disney's going to touch anything that I really like, which is BEFORE Episode 1. I prefer the stories of Nomi Sunrider, Exar Kun and Darth Bane over the Solo twins any day.

About the EU

There are a lot of things I really loved in the EU that I am very sad are not longer cannon. That said, the EU was a poorly managed mess. I don't blame them for wiping the slate clean and wanting to start over. I think in the long run we will get better stories as a result.

I've really been enjoying the new star wars comics marvel has been putting out. I haven't gotten a chance to read the books yet but I probably will.

Little Judas

Is this the moment the dark side awakened in him or just moments prior to an another "this is why we can't have nice things"-rampage by Mendiloquence?

I think you may be on to something there, Judas.

I've always love the "tongue-in-cheek" air of this comic. A snowball fight leads to an "awakening" for Mendi and it reminds me of the occasional tirades of hatred and angst spilling from GC in-game when someone got hit with a snowball after the first Life Day event ended.

Have a Merry Christmas, everyone! :-D

All I'll say is that Mendiloquence was well on his way deep into the dark side long before he met up with Salih, Kaliyo, and Vette.

Of course, it's no coincidence that Mendy has this flashback now.

Prediction: Our green Sith friend is about to go on a rampage, killing many droids and possibly some meatbags.

I have a creepy feeling when I'm the only one commenting on TOR forum, so guess I will move here :P

The thing I like most about Mendiloquence, he is a pretty good guy for a sith. Insane, but definetely not evil. And this cheerful attitude towards destruction. Yay!

Mendiloquence is insulted and hurt that you would suggest that he is not evil!

You are more then welcome to comment on my comic were ever you want. Though I do tend to be a bit more active here then on the official swtor forms as you can probably see.

As for Mendiloquence not being evil, well that really depends what your definition of evil is. Though he is unquestionably cheerful.

I took a poll of all of the people that he had killed and they voted for "Evil". Sure, I admit, it wasn't much of a random sample for the poll, but it was a very, very large sample. :)
